About this Blog

Hi! My name is Felix and I love food.

This describes me and my life pretty well already.
I’m a home cook who, trying to do something new and different next to their corporate job, decided to embark on a new project:

Cooking plates from all around the world for my wife and I to try!

With my wife being Mexican-American and me being half Austrian, half Italian, there is already a plethora of delicious food (thanks mom and mom-in-law!) in our families and through my project I am just adding to the recipe list.

This exciting journey is leading me to try different dishes, ingredients I’ve never heard of and cuisines of just about anywhere in the world, trying to stay as true to traditional as I can, sourcing my ingredients and living in Vienna, Austria.

Currently I cook dishes from a new country about once a week and plan to post it right here!

Hope you enjoy reading! – Felix

Where do I get my recipes?

Seeing as I am exploring different cuisines around the world, none of these recipes are originally mine. I try to link all of them and give you the opportunity to visit the wonderful blogs, videos, … that brought about the deliciousness I was able to make thanks to them sharing their recipes.

Deep Dives

Some countries will receive a “Deep Dive” into their regions and regional cuisines. While these are highly subjective and not at all an objective critique of the quality or diversity of their cuisine, I am going to generally try tro follow these trains of thought for who gets a deep dive:

1: Huge Countries: Examples for this are China or the US, which are countries with vast land area and very unique and different cuisines – Cajun vs. New England food being very different, for example, or the 8 cuisines of China being famous for their diversity. Therefore I feel like summarizing them in one meal doesn’t really do them justice.

2: Personal Ties: Other deep dives will be due to my wife’s and my personal roots in the US, Mexico, Austria and Italy. For example, while my home of Austria is a tiny country, there are dishes that are specific to certain Austrian regions – such as Tyrol, Styria or Vienna.

I’m sure as I go along with my project, many more things will jump out at me that deserve a visit or re-visit so I may just pepper them in in-between or l might add a second project once I’m finished, that will explore previously overlooked places more deeply. But mostly I’m trying to have fun with this and make it entertaining for the reader as well – so I’ll just go with the flow for now and see where it takes me.
